Flying in and around non-towered airports and best practices when working with Air Traffic Control. Have you ever flown in and out of a non-towered airport and had a close call with another plane that was not were you expected them to be? Is it a good idea for everyone to fly in predicable ways around airports?

There have been an increasing number of close calls, or worse, among planes at non-towered airports. With the increase in number of incidents, the FAA has recently released a new Advisory Circular in an effort to help make the skies safer.

This revised AC on this subject addresses some additional and changed recommendations. For your enhanced safety and to be prepared for this event, I suggest you review the attached copy of AC90-66C.

With the Tampa airspace being a complex and busy one, the Tampa ATC has agreed to participate in this seminar to help all of us learn to fly safer. Come talk with them and see how we can all make flying safer and more fun.
